Ichioku Tours rents out fully-restored classic convertibles that can be taken all throughout Tokyo—on the expressway, over Rainbow Bridge and even down to Daikoku PA in Yokohama to check out the local car scene.  Established in Tokyo during the latter part of 2022 as Japan reopened itself to inbound tourists, Ichioku’s vision was a simple one—to be a stylish competitor to the city’s controversial and now-infamous go-karting business.

Sensu Studio was hired to handle the visuals Ichioku Tours needed to promote the company’s launch. The shoot, however, presented a challenge; there would only be time for a single ride through Tokyo, due to the schedules of the three drivers, the deadline set by the company’s marketing department and of course, the uncontrollable weather conditions.

The result is two high-momentum videos, shot entirely handheld and edited in a scrapbook-meets-home-video style to reflect the personal nature of most tourists’ experiences, and to represent the retro era of the classic cars. The two shorts take viewers on a fast-paced ride through the heart of Tokyo, passing iconic landmarks in a massive loop around the city, each scene accented with hand-drawn animated typography.
