About us: Sensu Studio is a creative video and photography production company working with clients in Japan and internationally.

Established in 2022 by bilingual producer Hai Le and photographer/videographer Jeremy Hannigan, we create clear, reliable visual content ranging from promotional videos and documentaries to event coverage and still photography across Japan. Having lived in Tokyo for over 10 years, we combine local knowledge with international perspectives to produce exciting, diverse content in both English and Japanese.

Whether you are producing content from overseas or within Japan, our focus is the same: delivering visually strong work that feels professional, authentic, and effective. Sensu Studio exists to make production in Japan clear, collaborative, and creatively rewarding.

We produce promotional videos, documentaries, interviews, and event coverage for international and Japanese clients.

From concept development to final delivery, we can manage the entire production process. Our bilingual team works fluently in both English and Japanese, allowing us to collaborate smoothly with overseas clients while navigating local crews, locations, and regulations.

In addition to video production, Sensu Studio provides professional photography services throughout Tokyo and across Japan. Our work includes commercial photography, editorial shoots, brand campaigns, rebranding, event photography, and documentary stills.

We support both local and international productions, offering everything from creative direction to on-site production support.

Our photography services are available as standalone projects or as part of a combined video and photo production.

Production Services & Support in Japan

We act as a local production partner, helping you navigate the logistical and cultural aspects of producing content in Tokyo and throughout Japan.

Our production services include location scouting, permits, crew coordination, scheduling, casting support, and on-site production management. We work closely with trusted fixers, producers, directors of photography (DOPs), stylists, translators, and art department crew, among other local specialists, to ensure smooth and reliable execution at every stage.

The Team

Jeremy Hannigan

CO-FOUNDER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR + PHOTOGRAPHER + VIDEOGRAPHER
Driven by his passion for Japanese film, literature, photography and art, Jeremy relocated from Canada's Pacific Northwest to Tokyo in 2015 to pursue his creative endeavours.
During his time in Japan and prior to Sensu Studio's founding, Jeremy worked as a freelancer illustrator and designer, doing book covers, title designs, storyboards and photography retouching. Since moving on to full-time photography and videography in 2021, he has collaborated with notable clients including Adidas, Bose, CNN, the Kinki District Transport Bureau, and Pocari Sweat, bringing a unique perspective to every project.

Hai Le

CO-FOUNDER + PRODUCER + DIRECTOR + EDITOR
Based in Tokyo since 2014, Hai is a bilingual producer and director focused on keeping productions clear, well-managed, and moving forward smoothly. With a strong understanding of both international expectations and Japanese production culture, he bridges creative vision and practical execution for overseas and domestic clients.

Before co-founding Sensu Studio, Hai worked as a video editor across documentary, promotional, and long-form projects. This background gives him a strong sense of narrative, pacing, and post-production workflows, helping him plan productions efficiently from early development through final delivery.
Iulia Puica

SOMNIUMFILM DIRECTOR
Iulia has been working as a director since 2013 and has experience working with international teams from Germany, Portugal, Japan, Romania and Moldova. From 2021 Iulia has been a pre-selection jury at Izmit International Short Film Festival. Together with John, she operates as SomniumFilm, whom Sensu Studio frequently partners with.

John Donica

SOMNIUMFILM CINEMATOGRAPHER
John has been working as a cinematographer on documentary and fiction films, music videos, narrative videos and commercials since 2013. His projects have been selected for many international film festivals, including IDFA, Vision du Reel, Montenegro, Busan ISFF, Cronograf, DocuArtFest, East Silver, BIFF and TIFF.
